C) M-TECS 210, magnetic clamping technology for rubber/duroplast
[811360001]

PDF Data Sheet

Magnetic clamping system type M-TECS 210

The quick clamping technique for elastomers and duroplastics
Stable up to 240°C (peak loads also up to 260°C)
Suitable for horizontal and vertical machines
Available with or without integral heating plate
Also available as a magnetic plate suitable for vacuum forming

Moulds, even if not standardised, can be easily and swiftly changed. Since the clamping force is evenly distributed all over the clamping surface, tool wear is considerably reduced which means lower tool maintenance costs. With no moving parts, the system is basically maintenance-free. It is suitable for fitting onto existing presses and injection presses machines or incorporating into new ones. M-TECS 210 being stable up to 240°C largely covers the whole temperature range that may occur in the elastomer processing industry. The magnetic poles have been designed to provide a clamping force of 2kg/cm² or alternatively 5kg/cm² (double magnetic clamping technology).
The highest quality materials are used for the long pole design, which is based on the double magnet technique. Its outstanding concentration effect makes the system much stronger than any comparable magnetic plates.

The "M-TECS" product line embodies magnetic clamping technology, means quick clamping at highest level and offers the user substantial benefits:
• moulds, even not standardised, can be easily and swiftly changed without need for retooling
• the evenly distributed clamping force all over the clamping surface ensures low-distortion clamping, which results in higher product quality and reduced tool wear
• the evenly distributed magnetic force all over the clamping surface ensures optimum contact between the mould and the magnetic heating plate
• lower cost of maintenance and repair is the logical consequence
• no downtime for heating up or cooling down in the press
• shorter stay in the hot area, less burning
• no T-slot between the heating plate and the mould
• more homogeneous temperatures inside the mould
• reduced downtimes, less set-up costs, thus more productivity
• reduced set-up times allow small batches to be processed
• safe and effortless handling, thus operator friendly work
• process monitoring gives absolute safety - more safety for the operator and the machine
• clamping is also possible in difficult to access positions

Technical data M-TECS 210:
Maximum temperature: standard 210°C, special up to 240°C
Specific magnetic force: 18 kg/cm² (on the pole)
Effective magnetic force: between 2 and 5 kg/cm² (related to the clamping surface)
Magnetic penetration depth: between 15 and 20mm
Plate thickness: 47mm single magnets and 55mm double magnets technology
Fastening of magnetic plates: as per EUROMAP
Interface: as per EUROMAP 70.0 or 70.1

Special features:
• Double magnetic clamping system
• Long pole technology
• Long pole concentration effect with high density of force. The patented M-TECS concentration effect makes the system much stronger than any comparable magnetic plates.
The long pole technique with double magnetic clamping guarantees outstanding performance. Magnetic forces actually outside the mould surface are concentrated on the clamping surface.
• Even the smallest moulds are safely clamped.

Function and interface of the magnetic clamping system:
The electric permanent magnet clamping system is firmly kept in place even in the case of a power failure. Electricity is required for just 1 or 2 seconds to first magnetise (clamp) the system. In operation the system works independently of any power source. Only for unclamping electricity is again needed. Magnetic force is generated by a very flat, strong magnetic field. It penetrates the mould base plate by just some millimetres and has therefore no impact on the workpiece. Magnetic forces between 2 and 5 kg/cm² can be reached, which depends on the surface, i.e. the larger the mould the higher the magnetic forces. Clamping forces of e.g. 500, 1000 or 2000 kN can be achieved. The forces can be adapted to suit the needs of the machine. The design of the magnetic plates is flexible, size and shape can be determined to suit customers' requirements. The plates have thicknesses between 47 and 85mm. Additional holes for ejector, centring rings/positioning pins as well as clearance holes for punchings (metal forming) can be easily integrated into the magnetic plates. There are no limits for the geometrical shape of the magnetic plates. On request, the system is available for a maximum temperature of 240°C (peak loads also up to 260°C). It withstands heavy dirt, mould separation agents and vacuum. In the standard version, the system is stable up to 210°C. Permanent monitoring of the clamped condition, the temperature and the mould position in automatic operation gives maximum safety. With no moving parts, the system is basically maintenance-free. It is suitable for fitting onto existing presses or incorporating into new ones. The system consists of two electric permanent magnet plates, controls, remote pendant, a complete set of cables, and in most cases it can be installed in a few hours. The interface with the machine is carried out as per EUROMAP 70.1 or according to customers' request.

Safety notice:
A separate controller which is supplied with the magnetic clamping system in combination with the press-control ensures safety for the operator and the machine. During the entire processing cycle the parameters of the magnetic force, the position of the tooling and the temperature are permanently monitored by this control system. The slightest movement of one half of the mould causes the machine to stop - guaranteed safety. An indicator lamp on the remote pendant constantly signals the actual condition of the system.
M-TECS 210 is CE tested and complies with the applicable directives 'Machines' 98/37 EEC, 'Low voltage' 73/23 EEC and EMC 89/336.
The interface with the machine is carried out as a no-volt contact to the emergency cut-out or the machine drive. The latest version of the control system includes the interface as per Euromap 70.1 or 70.0. Customised solutions are possible.
